On Rock & Air is a new participatory work that considers the relationship between the ground beneath our feet and the atmosphere in which we live.
The work has been designed as a kind of bridging piece between some previous projects, and Atmospheric Forces as a future work. Also as something that will really allow Sheila to root herself again into the Leicesterhire area, whilst lightly exploring the relationship between place and loss.
During the making phase of the work Sheila is spending time researching National Forest vantage points and quarries within Charnwood and Leicestershire. Through books, conversations and experiencing them in real life.
She is also leading some activities with participants so she can experience what it means to be in some of these locations with others - On Reflection her wander with a black mirror being one of them.
On Reflection will be at Bradgate Park’s Old John in Leicestershire on June 23rd (book HERE) and Timber Festival Feanedock in July (book HERE).
On Rock & Air is supported by a National Forest Grant.
