A Restorative was commissioned by The Spire in Brighton and presented in association with Brighton Festival 2023 over two weekends:

Sat 13–Sun 14 May 11am–5pm | Sat 20–Sun 21 May 11am–5pm

The piece is a participatory art work, created to revive and renew the spirits of those that drop by.

In the work attendees are invited to select their own fortifying mix of herbs and ingredients to add to a hand-made dream pillow (a scented pouch for the eyes, once used in sickrooms to ease nightmares). And then invited to take a short pause and try it out, whilst being sung to by local sound & voice artist Anthea Clarke. They then get to keep their dream pillow and take it home.

Lighting Design at The Spire was provided by Marty Langthorne and BSL interpretation was by Sue Maclaine.

With additional Producing by Faith Dodkins from The Spire.

Rosemary to prevent nightmares, Yarrow for mending wounds, Camomile to beckon sleep, Red Clover to stop feverish thoughts...
